A short review on Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012)

Beasts of the Southern Wild is not my type of film – a group of abandoned people in an apocalyptic world with some bits of fantasy. I watched it with a heavy heart, expecting nothing. But, I was surprised to find this film powerful and poignant. All the actors did a great job bringing out their emotions, but wow, the six-year-old actress, Quvenzhané Wallis, has so much talent. She can appear on-screen without saying anything, but that’s enough to reveal such deep emotions in a six-year-old child. Wow.

It’s hard to point out why I like this movie. I simply do.

Maybe it’s the line, “I see myself as a little piece in this big, big world.”
